p(x) = {x}^{3} - 1 \\ p(1) = ( {1)}^{3} - 1 \\ = 1 - 1 \\ = 0 \\ p( - 1) = {( - 1)}^{3} - 1 \\ = - 1 - 1 \\ = - 2 \\ \\ p(1) + p( - 1) = 0 + ( - 2) \\ = - 2
