Given that : ( X + 1 ) is a factor of the given polynomial.
( X + 1 ) = 0
X = -1
P(X) = X³ - 2X² - 4X - 1
P(-1) = (-1)³ - 2 × (-1)² - 4 × -1 - 1
=> -1 - 2 + 4 - 1
=> 4-4
=> 0
Hence,
Remainder = 0
