hi How are

oops otherwise your answer is

p(y)=(y+2)(y−2)

Putting the value of

y=1

p(y)=(1+2)(1−2)=3×−1=−3

Alternate:

p(y)=(y+2)(y−2)=y

2

−4 [using (a−b)(a+b)=a

2

−b

2

)

p(1)=1

2

−4=−3

answer- p(y) = y^2- 2y + 1

Also, p(-y) = (-y)^2 - 2(-y) + 1 == y^2 + 2y + 1

p(y) +p(-y) == (y^2 -2y + 1) + (y^2 + 2y + 1) == 2y^2 + 2
