Check out the attachment for a magnified picture of the two triangles.

We have to find the value of the lengths d and a.

Let us start with the first triangle

• It is a right angled isoseles triangle

The length of the hypotenuse is given to be 8 units

So, applying the Pythagoras theorem here

d² + d² = 8² = 64

2d² = 64

d² = 32

d = 4√2

d = 4 × 1.414

d ≈ 5.7

For the second triangle. let's consider the angle of 30°

Taking sine of 30°

sin 30 = 5/a = ½

a = 10

Answer :

d = 5.7 and a = 10
