Proof:

Given that Paul is older than Bill and Fred is younger than Bill, prove that Bill's age is between Paul's and Fred's. Let x = Paul's age, y = Bill's age, and z = Fred's age. Since Paul is order than Bill we know that x > y. Since Fred is younger than Bill, we know that z < y. Note that x > y means that y < x. Thus, since z < y and y < x we have that z < y < x. Thus, Bill's age is between Paul's and Fred's. Done!
