Hi ,
i ) let side of a square = a
Perimeter = 4a----( 1 )
Area ( A )= a² -----( 2 )
ii ) if the perimeter is tripled,
New perimeter = 3 × ( 1 )
= 3 × 4a
= 12a
Therefore ,
Side of the new square
= ( New perimeter ) /4
= 12a/4
= 3a
Area of new square = (3a)²
= 9a²
= 9 × a²
= 9 × A
[ Since from ( 2 ) ]
= 9 × area of first square
Therefore,
If perimeter of a square is tripled ,
then area will be 9 times of the first
square area.
I hope this helps you.
