if point R(x,y) lie on the line segment joining the point P(a,b) and Q(b,a), then prove that x+y=a+b​

Step-by-step explanation:

Find Equation of line segment joining points P and Q using two point form, i.e

y-b=a-b/b-a(x-a)

but a-b/b-a = -1

therefore y-b = -(x-a)

y-b = -x+a

x+y = a+b

Now since R also lies in same line, it satisfies the Equation.

Do by substituting x in x place and y in y place we get same.
