Given,

Q is the midpoint of PR

R is the midpoint of QS

To Prove,

QR = 1/ 3 PS

Solution,

Q is the midpoint of the PR which means that is Q will divide the line segment PR into 2 equal parts

PQ = QR ⇒ Equation 1

Similarly, R is the midpoint of QS

QR = RS ⇒ Equation 2

From Equation 1 and 2,

PQ = QR = RS ⇒ Equation 3

Line segment PS =  PQ + QR +QS

PS = QR + QR + QR [From equation 3]

PS = 3QR

QR = 1/3 PS

Hence proved that if Q is the midpoint of PR and R is the midpoint of QS, then QR=1/3 PS
