Given :   f(x) is divided by g(x)  & r(x) = 0

To find :  what is g(x) called

Solution:

If r(x)=0 when f(x) is divided by g(x) then g(x) is called a factor of f(x)

f(x)  = g(x) q(x)  + r(x)

where

f(x)  = Dividend

g(x) = Divisor

q(x)  ia Quotient

r(x) = remainder

when r(x) = 0

=> f(x)   = g(x)(q(x)

f(x) is completely divisible by g(x)

Hence g(x) will be a factor of f(x)

If r(x)=0 when f(x) is divided by g(x) then g(x) is called a factor of f(x)
