root2 + 1/ root2 - 1

Multiply top and bottom with root 2 + 1

so the bottom part will cancel due to identity==> (a+b)(a-b) = a^2 - b^2

so you will be left with (root2 + 1)^2 on the top

Expand that

==> 2 + 1 + 2root2 ==> 3+ 2(1.414)

= 3+2.828 = 5.828
