60 kg of fresh water can be added to 40 kg of seawater so that the salt content of the solution becomes 2%

There is 40kg of sea water.

Initially, 5% salt by weight was the content.

So, content of salt = 5% of 40kg = 2kg

Let, the total amount of the mixture be be 'x', and the salt content becomes 2%. So,

2% of x = 2kg

⇒ 2x/100 = 2kg

⇒ x = 100kg

Freshwater content = 100kg - 40kg = 60kg
