Step-by-step explanation:

 \sec( \alpha ) + \tan( \alpha ) = x

(1 \div \cos( \alpha ) ) + (1 \div \cot( \alpha ) ) = x

1 \div \cot( \alpha ) = x - 1 \div \cos( \alpha )

 \cot( \alpha ) =( 1 \div x) - \cos( \alpha )

 \cot( \alpha ) = 1 - x \cos( \alpha ) \div x

Hope it helps
