sec² A = (x - tan A)²

sec² A = x² + tan² A - 2x tan A

sec² A- tan²A= x²-2xtanA

1= x²- 2 x tan A

1-x²= - 2x tan A

tan A= x²- 1/2x

Given

sec A + tan A = x

sec A + x²-1/2x=x

sec A = x- (x²-1/2x)

sec A = 2x²-x²+1/2x

sec A = x²+1/2x

Option B is correct
