if Sigma,Beta are Zeroes of the Quadratic polynomial f(x) equals to x square-px+q then find the value of Sigma square + beta square

You know that
if α and β are roots of polynomial x²-px+q
then α+β=p and αβ=q
Now α²+β²= (α+β)²-2αβ
                 = (p)²-2(q)

so α²+β²= p²-2q (Ans)
