I take theta as x.

= > \: \sin(x) + \cos(x) = \sqrt{2} \sin(90 - \color{purple}x)=>sin(x)

= > \: \sin(x) + \cos(x) = \sqrt{2} \cos(x)=>sin(x)

= > \: \sin(x) = \sqrt{2} \cos(x) - \cos(x)

= > \: \sin(x) = ( \sqrt{2} - 1) \cos(x)=>sin(x)

➪= > \: \frac{ \sin(x) }{ \cos(x) } = \sqrt{2} - 1

➪= > \: \tan(x) = \sqrt{2} - 1=>tan(x)
