We know that digestion occurs with the help of enzymes.

The gastric glands in the stomach secretes gastric juice that contains many components. One of which is HCL whose pH is about 1.4.

HCL of such a low pH can digest any type of muscles but the nature has provided a defence mechanism too.

Gastric glands also contains mucous which prevents the stomach layer from HCl and being digested
