Remember that:

 \tan( \alpha )  =  \cot(90 -  \alpha )  \\  \\  \cot( \alpha )  =  \tan(90 -  \alpha )

given :  \tan(a)  =  \cot(b)  \\  \\  \Rightarrow  \cot(90 - a)  =  \cot(b)  \\  \\ \Rightarrow 90 - a = b \\  \\ \Rightarrow 90 = a + b
