Given, tan theta = 1/ root 3

We know, tan theta= opposite side/adjacent side

So, Opposite side=1 , Adjacent side= root 3

So, by Pythagores theorem

AC= Root (1'2+root 3'2)

AC= 2 ( process shown in picture)

then,we know cos theta=Adjacent side/hypotenuse

Cos theta=root3/2
