The correct answer is option (b).

If the anterior part of pituitary gland gets damaged then what will be the effect on male reproductive system, process of spermatogenesis declines.

  • Gonadotropin releasing hormones( GnRH) is secreted by the hypothalamus at the beginning of puberty. This stimulates the pituitary gland( anterior pituitary) to secrete the follicle stimulating hormone(FSH) and luteinising hormone(LH).
  • FSH, in turn stimulates the sertoli cells present in the testes of males, thereby facilitating spermatogenesis.
  • LH also stimulates the secretion of testosterone by the interstitial cells in the testes.

Therefore, if anterior pituitary is damaged, the secretion of the gonadotropins, FSH and LH are affected and thereby it reduces spermatogenesis.
