So, Perpendicular = Base

Let the base be x

So,  Perpendicular = Base =x

Area of triangle = \frac{1}{2} \times Base \times Height

                         = \frac{1}{2} \times x \times x

                         = \frac{1}{2}x^2

Since we are given that The area of an isosceles right angled triangle is 32 sq.cm

So,  \frac{1}{2}x^2=32

 x^2=64

x=\sqrt{64}

x=8

So, the length of its longest altitude is equal to 8 cm
