Answer:

area of parallelogram = base x height

y^2 - 8 = (y + 8)(y - 6)

y^2 - 8 = y^2 + 2y - 48

2y = 48 - 8

2y = 40

y = 20

area = y^2. - 8

= 20^2 - 8

=. 400 - 8

= 392 sq.unit
