Given info : if the centre of gravity of a metre scale of mass 80g lies at 45cm mark.

To find : the diagram shows the balanced position of scale is ..

solution : if the centre of gravity of the metre scale of mass 80 g lies at 45 cm, the moment of forces on both sides of the this point will be equal.

i.e., torque due to force of left side = torque due to force of right side

let's check which one satisfies the condition.

option (1) : 80gf × (60 - 45)cm ≠ 40gf × (100 - 60) cm

option (2) : 80gf × (60 - 45) cm ≠ 45 gf × (100 - 60) cm

option (3) :  80gf × (60 - 45) cm = 30gf × (100 - 60) cm

option (4) :  80gf × (60 - 45) cm  ≠ 80gf × (100 - 60) cm

therefore the correct option is (3) which shows the balanced position of scale.
