Answer: The class corresponding to the class mark 46 is, 42 - 50

Given the class marks of a continuous frequency distribution be

22, 30, 38, 46, 54, 62

The class corresponding to the class mark 46 is to be found.

As, class mark = (upper limit + lower limit)/2

the class mark is given 46

also, the difference between the lower and upper limit be, 8

let upper limit be, u

then lower limit be, u - 8

on using the formula of class mark,

class mark = (u + u - 8)/2

46 = (2u - 8)/2

46 = u - 4

46 + 4 = u

u = 50

then the lower limit be, 50 - 8 = 42

The class corresponding to the class mark 46 is, 42 - 50

To conclude in one sentence, the class corresponding to the class mark 46 is, 42 - 50.
