kg. cost

8. 88

?(x). 60.50

8×60.50=x ×88

4800=88x

4800 /88=600/11

cost of 60.50 potatoes=600.11

b) kg. cost

8. 88

17. ?(x)

8×x=17×88

8x=1496

x=1496/8

x=187

Answer:

you can simply apply unitary method for this kind of problems, here is the explanation how:

1- as per you're question, we know that 8kg of potatoes are worth 88rs which is very unusual of a price but anyways, we can write this as

8kg potatoes = 88rupees

so for 1kg of potatoes simply divide the total weight of the potatoes given to the price you paid for them then it would cost,

1kg potatoes = 88/8 = 11rupees for the 1kg of potatoes.

now, come to you're question part a)

it is asked how many kg of potatoes would come in 60.50,

all you need to do is the price of 1kg potatoes to the given amount, which is in this case 60.50 , so for the solution,

1kg pot. = 11rs or 11rs = 1pot. ( same thing for simplicity)

so for 60.50rs we get, 60.50rs/11rs=5.5 kg

and for the part b) of you're question you have to multiply the 1kg amount to the the weight asked, which is in this case 17kg, so for the solution

1kg pot. = 11rs or vice-versa,

so for 17kg we get, 11rs×17kg=187rs.

I hope this explanation would be sufficient!
