Answer:

let original cost of banana per dozen be x and no. of dozen of banana getting from original price be y.

According to Question

840/x = y (1)

840/x+1 = y-2 (2)

putting value of y from equ. (1) to (2)

840/x+1 = (840 /x) -2

840/x+1 = 840 -2x / x

840x = 840x+840-2x²-2x

2x² +2x -840 = 0

2x² +42x - 40x -840 = 0

2x(x+21) -42(x+20) = 0

(2x-42) (x+20) = 0

x = 21,-20

So,original cost of one dozen banana = x = 20,
