H = i2Rt
H is the heat produced, i is the current through the wire of resistance R for time t.
If i is halved, i.e., i/ = i/2, then
H/ = (i/)2Rt = (1/4)i2Rt = (1/4)H
Heat produced will decrease 4 times.
