Let the numerator be x

then denominator will be 2x-1 because question says that the denominator of a fraction is 1 less than twice the numerator.

so required fraction will be x/(2x-1)

Now question says that if the numerator and denominator are both increased by l, the fraction become 3/5.

So we add 1 to numerator and denominator both and get equation

(x+1)/(2x-1+1)=3/5

or (x+1)/(2x)=3/5

cross multiply

5(x+1)=3(2x)

or 5x+5=6x

or 5=6x-5x

or 5=x

now plug value of x=5 into required fraction x/(2x-1)

= 5/(2*5-1)

= 5/(10-1)

=5/9

Hence final answer is 5/9
