When diameter becomes 2 times ,the radius of earth will also becomes 2 times.
we know that gravitational force due to earth is directly proportional to its mass and inversely proportional to its radius.
so let its weight was w and now it's w'.
so w/w' = (M/R^2)/(M'/R'2)=MR'^2/M'R'^2.
we are given M'=2M and R'=2R
so
w/w'=M(2R)^2/2MR^2
w/w'=4MR^2/2MR^2
w/w'=2
or w'=2w.
It shows that weight becomes twice.
