Answer:

Ratio of Father:Peter 15 years ago = 3:1

Ratio of Father:Peter now = 2:1

This problem is now reduced to simple ratio & proportion.

The difference between numerator & denominator is 2 & 1 respectively.

Multiplying and dividing latter ratio by 2, we have the two ratios as :

3:1 & 4:2 each having same difference of 2.

Now, the difference between numerator of both ratios is 1.

=> The ages differ by a factor of 1 for 15 years.

=> Age of father now will be 15 x 4/1 = 60 years and age of Peter will be 15 x 2/1 = 30 years.

Ages 5 years hence is 65 & 35 years respectively.
