I am so sorry. The difference is not 1331. It is 1027.And I do not think 1027 is a perfect cube.

so obviously (b+1)3 is the greatest four-digit perfect cube
so then
a = (b+1)3 -b3 = 3b2+3b+1
now we find b
b is the greatest interger smaller then the cube root of 104 (5 digits)

a = 3(21)2+3(21)+1
a=1387
