Dear Student,

◆ Answer -

88.89 %

● Explanation -

Attraction between earth and sun is -

F = GMeMs/r^2

If distance is increased by 3 times,

F' = GMeMs/r'^2

F' = GMeMs/(3r)^2

F' = GMeMs/9r^2

F' = (GMeMs/r^2)/9

F' = F/9

Percent decrease in attractive force is -

% ∆F = (F-F')/F × 100

% ∆F = (F-F/9)/F × 100

% ∆F = (8F/9)/F × 100

% ∆F = 8/9 × 100

% ∆F = 88.89 %

Hence, percent decrease in attractive force is 88.89 %.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
