It takes 8 and a half or 8 and a quarter minutes for the light from sun to reach the earth

Given distance(S) = 1.5 x 10¹¹ m
velocity of light(c)=3 x 10⁸ ms⁻¹
By using,
c = s/t
3 \times {10}^{8} = \frac{1.5 \times {10}^{11} }{t} \\ = > t = \frac{1.5 \times {10}^{11} }{3 \times {10}^{8} } \\ = > t = \frac{1.5 \times {10}^{3} }{3} \\ = > t = 0.5 \times {10}^{3} seconds

So t is the time taken by light to reach arth
