if the force of gravity is pulling us to the center of the earth why do we stay on the surface?

Gravity is the property that one object with mass will exert an force on another which is proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of their distances. At the centre of the Earth, you are pulled equally in all directions, so the force cancels out.
