Ai = 1/2 × bi × hi
hf = 60/100 hi
bf = 140/100 bi
Af = 1/2 × bf × hf = 1/2 × 140/100 bi × 60/100 hi
= 21/25 Ai ( Note that Af < Ai )
So,
Af = Ai - x% of Ai
This gives x = 16.
Therefore, the final area is reduced by 16%.
hf = 60/100 hi
bf = 140/100 bi
Af = 1/2 × bf × hf = 1/2 × 140/100 bi × 60/100 hi

So,

This gives x = 16.
Therefore, the final area is reduced by 16%.
