As you know eucaryotic cells contain a very large quantity of DNA (human cells have at least a thousand times more DNA than a typical bacteria cell). E.coli chromosomes have about 4.7 x 106 base pairs which results in a length of 1.6 mm. An E.coli cell, however is only 0.002 mm long

Answer is 5 X 10^9 base pair. Distance between two base pair in DNA is 3.4 Angstrom. Therefore in a helix since 10 base pair is present therefore the length of DNA in a helix is 34 Angstrom. So, if the length of DNA is 1.7 metre and the distance between the base pair is 3.4 Angstrom then the number of base pair would be 5 x 10^9.
