Let length = 100

Breadth = 100

Area = 100 x 100 = 10000 sq. unit

New length = 100 + 100 x 20/100 = 120

New breadth = 100 - 100 x 20 /100 = 80

New area = 120 x 80 = 9600 sq. unit

Area decrease = 10000 - 9600 = 400 sq.

% decrease = ( 400/ 10000 ) x 100 = 4%
