length = 40 m

breadth =15 m

area of verandah[rectangle]=l * b

                                            = 40m * 15m

                                            = 600m^2

and stone each measuring 6dm by5dm => 0.6m by  0.5m

area of stone= l*b

                      =0.6m*0.5m

                      =0.3m.sq

now, number of stone required =area of verandah/area of stone

                                                 = 600m.sq/0.3m.sq

                                                 = 600*10/3

                                                 = 6000/3

                                                  = 2000.
