Given:

Mass of object on earth (M) = 65 kg

To find:

Weight of object on moon.

Solution:

  • We know, an attractive force called Gravitational Force that is responsible or helpful for us in maintaining our posture and making us able to stand firmly on the ground.
  • Unlike in space, where we know the gravitational force between 2 foreign bodies is so less as compared to on earth, that astronauts living there cannot remain standing at a position and keep floating in the space.

We know, on the moon, the acceleration due to gravity or the force of gravity is \frac{1}{6} times the gravity on earth.

Hence,

Value of g on moon =\frac{1}{6} of 9.8  ; that is

g_{m}=1.634m/s^{2}

Hence,

Weight of the object on the moon W_{m}=M g_{m}

Substituting the given values in the equation, we get

W=(65)(1.634)

or

W=106.21 kg

Final answer:

Hence, the weight of the object of mass 65 kg(on earth) on the moon will be 106.2 kg.
