Mean=sum of given(all) values/total no. Of values

Mean=(2+4+6+8+x+y)/6

As given that mean is 5 so by taking it will becomes

5=(2+4+6+8+x+y)/6

5=(20+x+y)/6

As 6 is in division, therefore on other side of “=” it will get multiply with 5 and becomes

30=20+x+y

Now +20 on other side of “=” becomes -20 so we get

30–20=x+y

10=x+y

i.e ANS: x+y=10
