Answer:

The mean of 3,5,6,2, and a is b

     ( 3+5+6+2+a) / 5  = b

      16+a   = 5 b

   5 b - a   = 16

        a   =  5 b - 16    ------------------------ (1)

The mean of 3,5,6,2, a and b is a

    (3+5+6+2+a+b) / 6  = a

    16 + a + b  = 6 a

     16 + b  =  5 a

from (1)

        16 + b = 5 ( 5 b - 16)

        16 + b  =  25 b - 80

        16 + 80  = 25 b - b

           96      =   24 b

    b   =  96 / 24   = 4

    a   =  5 (4) -14

    a  =  20 - 14  = 6

Answer   a = 6 & b = 4
