if the mean of 7,9,X,13,6 is 8,find the value of X.

X= (7 +9+x+13+6)÷5
8=(35+x)÷5
40=35+x
x=40-35
∴x=5

Mean = Sum of all the observations / No. of observations
Mean = 7+9+X+13+6/5
8 = 35+X / 5
8×5 = 35+X
40-35 = X
5 = X
