mean of 24 no = 36.5

sum of all observations=X

X/24 = 36.5

X =36.5×24

X=876

if 12.5 is added to each no then the new mean equals to

= ((a+12.5)+(b+12.5).......(x+12.5))/24

=(12.5(a+b+c+d+e........x))/24

=12.5(sum of observations)/23

= (12.5(876))/24

= 456.25
