If the mean of the 5 observation x,x+2,x+4,x+6 and x+8 is 11 . then find the value of x5​

Solution :

Given observations :

x ,x+2,x+4,x+6 and x+8

i ) Sum of the observations

= x+x+2+x+4+x+6+x+8

= 5x + 20 ---( 1 )

ii ) Number of observations

= 5

Now ,

mean = 11 [ Given ]

=> ( 1 )/( 2 ) = 11

=> ( 5x + 20 )/5 = 11

=> 5x + 20 = 55

=> 5x = 55 - 20

=> 5x = 35

=> x = 35/5

=> x = 7
