GIVEN:-

  • If the mean of the data is 15.

TO FIND:-

  • The value of P.

SOLUTION:-

\begin{array}{| c | c | c |}\cline{1-3} \tt x_{i} & \tt f_{i} & \tt x_i f_i \\ \cline{1-3} 5 & 6 & 30 \\ \cline{1-3} 10 & P & 10P\\ \cline{1-3} 15 & 6 & 90 \\ \cline{1-3} 20 & 10 & 200 \\ \cline{1-3} 25 & 5 & 125\\ \cline{1-3} .............& \tt N= 27+P & \tt x_i f_i= 445+10P\\ \cline{1-3} \end{array}

Now,

\implies\rm{Mean=\dfrac{x_i f_i}{N}}

\implies\rm{15=\dfrac{445+10P}{27+P}}

\implies\rm{15(27+P)=445+10P}

\implies\rm{405+15P= 445+10P}

\implies\rm{40=5P}

\implies\rm{P=\dfrac{\cancel{40}}{\cancel{5}}}

\implies\rm{P= 8}

Hence, The value of P is 8.
