Given : mean wage for 15 workers in Company A is 300 per day and in Company B the mean for its 20 workers is 280 per week.

Company A and Company B merge together,

To Find :    the mean salary for the 35 workers

Solution:

Company A  mean wage for 15 workers in Company A is 300 per day

=> Per day wages = 15 * 300 = 4500  Rs

Company B the mean for its 20 workers is 280 per week.

=>  mean for its 20 workers is 280/7 = 40 per day

=> Per day wages = 20 * 40 = 800  Rs

Total wages = 4500 + 800 = 5300

Total workers = 20 + 15 = 35

Mean salary per day = 5300 / 35 =  151.43 Rs

if data is considered either per day or per week

then  ( 15 * 300 + 20 * 280)/ 35  will be mean salary for 35 workers per day/ week

= ( 4500 + 5600)/ 35

= 288.57  Rs
