Mean is the average of the given set of numbers. Mean is also known as Average as well as Arithmetic Mean.

Mean = \dfrac{\textsf{Sum\:of\:observations}}{\textsf{Number\:of\:observations}}

Now coming to your question :-

✪ Question :- If the mean of x, x + 2, x + 4, x + 6 and x + 8 is 24, then find the value of x.

✪ Solution :-

Mean = \dfrac{\textsf{Sum\:of\:observations}}{\textsf{Number\:of\:observations}}

☛ 24 = \dfrac{\textsf{x + x + 2 + x + 4 + x + 6 + x + 8}}{\textsf{5}}

☛ 24 × 5 = x + x + 2 + x + 4 + x + 6 + x + 8

☛ 120 = 5x + 20

☛ 5x + 20 = 120

☛ 5x = 120 - 20

☛ 5x = 100

∴ x = 20

∴ The value of x is \boxed{\boxed{\textsf{20}}}
