Finding Ratio

Answer:

Ratio of number of students who like cricket to the number of students who like tennis that is x : y  is 3 : 5 .

Explanation:

Given that number of students who like cricket is 3/5 of the students who like tennis.

let assume number of students who like cricket = x

and assume number of students who like tennis = y

we need to find  number of students who like cricket  : number of students who like tennis that is x : y

As it is given that number of students who like cricket is 3/5 of the students who like tennis.

so  x = \frac{3}{5} y

=> \frac{x}{y}  = \frac{3}{5}

that is x : y = 3 : 5

So  ratio of number of students who like cricket to the number of students who like tennis that is x : y  is 3 : 5 .

As only ratio is asked , information of total number of students that is 36 is not used.
