X78Y is a 4 digit number that is divisible by 55 (i.e. X78Y must be divisible by 5 & 11). So, X78Y must have Y=0,5 , in order to get it divisible by 5. We take Y=5 (•.• acc. to divisibility rule of 11 --- 7+0≠8+x and we want LHS=RHS). Therefore, 7+5=8+x => 12=8+x => 4=x. Hence, X=4 and Y=5.
