"Numerator be x

Let the denominator will be x+8

⇒x+17/x+8-1=3/2

⇒x+17/x+7=3/2

⇒2(x+17)=3(x+7)

⇒2x+34=3x+21

⇒34-21=3x-2x

⇒13=x

∴x/x+8

=13/21

There were two numbers involved such as top number and bottom number. Two numbers are called as numerator and a denominator.

They both represent different things and the simplest way to define the numerator and a denominator.

Numerator is top number of a fraction and Denominator is bottom number of a fraction.
