Let the initial value of fraction be x

Let the initial value of fraction be xThen new value of fraction is

 \frac{5}{9}

 \frac{x}{y}  =  \frac{5x}{2y}

 \frac{5x}{8y}  =  \frac{5}{9}

 \frac{x}{y}  =  \frac{5 \times 8}{9 \times 5}

 \frac{x}{y}  =  \frac{8}{9}
